Kolkata: Kolkata Police, on Friday night, conducted a special drive against eve-teasers, unruly bikers and trouble mongers and arrested several persons and seized many bikes.

According to police, keeping in mind the gruesome Hyderabad incident, a specialised woman police force known as the 'Winners' on Friday, was instructed to conduct raids in several areas of Kolkata to nab eve-teasers. Sources informed that during the past few days, police were informed about multiple eve-teasing incidents in the Netaji Nagar area.

Based on the information, the Winners team along with the Anti Rowdy Squad (ARS) was instructed to conduct surprise raids in multiple areas including Park Circus, Beniapukur, Park Street and Netaji Nagar.

During the raid, the Winners team apprehended 13 eve-teasers and handed them over to the concerned police stations.

Also, 60 persons were detained for unruly behaviour and flouting norms while riding bikes. Police, during the raids, have also seized 51 bikes for not having proper documents and other such violations.

A senior police official from Lalbazar informed that such raids will be carried out regularly and places will be chosen randomly so that offenders cannot bypass the police checking.
