Extortion case: Samuel interrogated again

The Kolkata Police on Tuesday once again interrogated Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel in connection with the Munchipara extortion case.

The police had sent an email to Samuel on Tuesday morning stating that he had to furnish all documents as asked by the investigating officers.

Samuel, who was questioned earlier for three consecutive days in similar connection at Munchipara police station, was summoned for further interrogation. He was asked to get his appointment letter that he had got from Tehelka in 2014 and his resignation letter as well along with details of the employees who had resigned from Narada News. He was also asked to produce some documents related to his tax returns for the year 2014-15 and details about properties of his family members.

He went to the police station on Tuesday morning and the interrogation continued till evening. After coming out of the police station, he threatened to go on a hunger strike alleging harassment by the police.

Sources said that the police are yet to get some more documents that they had asked from Samuel. It is learnt that he told the police that some of the documents and two cell phones, the ones police asked to deposit for investigation, are with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
