Kanyashree pride of Bengal, says Mamata

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday evening said that "Kanyashree" is the pride of Bengal.

She addressed media persons at Kolkata airport after her return from the Netherlands where she received the first prize in the United Nations (UN) Public Service Award for Asia Pacific at The Hague. Banerjee also conveyed Eid greetings to the people. She congratulated the people of the state saying that Kanyashree is the pride of the state as it brought smiles on the faces of thousands of girls. Thousands of people gathered outside the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport to welcome the Chief Minister. They shouted slogans on the success of Banerjee in taking Bengal to the top of the world.

Many came with flower bouquets to congratulate the Chief Minister for the success of the project that was her brainchild. The people in the state are now waiting for the announcement of the date and time when the state government will celebrate the achievement of Kanyashree Prakalpa that has now become "Kanyashree of the World". It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had said that the success of Bengal will be celebrated through statewide programmes. Banerjee will be attending a Namaz congregation at the Red Road on Monday morning. She will also be giving a message of peace and brotherhood.
