CM to hold administrative review meeting at Tarakeswar today

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be holding the administrative review meeting of Hooghly district and a public meeting where hundreds of people will be receiving different benefits in Tarakeswar on Thursday.
This is the first administrative meeting in Hooghly after the Chief Minister announced a new board for an overalldevelopment of Tarakeswar where lakhs of pilgrims visit round the year. She had announced the formation of the Tarakeswar Development Board in a press conference held in Nabanna on Monday.

Banerjee is scheduled to visit the temple of Tarakeswar to offer puja. She will also be doing a reccee of the place to identify what more could be done for an overall development of the place.

The venue, where Banerjee will be distributing various items to beneficiaries, is situated at a distance of around three kilometre from the temple of Tarakeswar. The place where the programme has been organised is called the New Bus Stand near Tarakeswar railway station where lakhs of people will be gathering to listen to the Chief Minister.

People will start pouring into the place from different parts of the district since morning. Thus, the police have made necessary arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the programme from where the Chief Minister will be inaugurating several projects and lay foundations of 44 new projects.

After attending the programme at the New Bus Stand, Banerjee will be holding the administrative review meeting in Mahavidyalaya. Banerjee will be taking stock of the ongoing projects in Hooghly besides interacting with representatives of private healthcare establishments in the district.

Hooghly being the leading producer of potato in the state, the matter related to agriculture and its allied sectors would come up in the meeting too.

The verdict of Supreme Court in favour of the farmers in Singur came on August 31 in 2016. The Chief Minister went to Singur several times after the verdict and her government did everything necessary to turn the 997 acre land that was "forcefully" acquired for the Tata Nano factory to an agricultural land once again. Boro rice, potato and pulses were cultivated in the land. Thus, there would also be discussions on the present situation of Singur. The Chief Minister had announced that a statue will be built at Singur to mark the sacrifice of the martyrs. The security arrangement has been tightened in Tarakeswar to ascertain that no untoward incident takes place during the presence of the Chief Minister. Both the bomb and dog squads were found frisking the area since Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will address the United Nations on Public Service Day on June 23 in Netherlands. UN had invited her to address the gathering on the occasion. Banerjee will be speaking on Public Service Delivery System in West Bengal and Public Service Innovation 2030. She is likely to leave for Netherlands on June 21 and return to the city on June 23.

Earlier, on receiving the invitation, the CM had said: "I have been invited to attend UN Public Service Day and highlight achievements of West Bengal in public services."
