HIDCO to host writers' workshop at Swapno Bhor

Kolkata: Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) will organise a writers' workshop to train aspiring storytellers including senior citizens to develop their skills.
The workshop will be held on March 11 at Swapno Bhor in New Town, the only senior citizens' park in the state.
Two well-known Bengali litterateurs will visit and interact with the young and old storytellers, sharing their experiences and discuss the technique that is followed to express oneself.
The need to organise the workshop was felt after it was found that many senior citizens who are members of Swapno Bhor can write well and have also published books after retirement.
Many of them have travelled extensively throughout the country and abroad during their service period and gathered huge experience. After retirement, they want to write about their experiences and share their stories.
Similarly, many youngsters also aspire to write books but do not know the technique. It may be mentioned that there are many online programmes where well-known writers, mostly in English, give training on how to write stories.
At Swapno Bhor, cultural programmes are regularly held where members take an active part. The two-storeyed building surrounded by three acres of the sprawling lawn has a library, a coffee corner, a lounge and an auditorium.
Functions are held to launch books by the members at the library.
