Govt to organise synergy for Birbhum & Burdwan in bid to boost MSME sector

Kolkata: In a bid to give further boost to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the state government is going to organise a synergy in cluster form for Birbhum and Burdwan.

The synergy will be held on November 15 at Durgapur in West Burdwan. It is one of the eight synergies that the state Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Textiles department has decided to organise. The decision to organise the synergies was taken following directions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had directed the top brass of the MSME and Textiles department to prepare a roadmap to ensure more support to the entrepreneurs in the grassroot level for further development of the sector. She had given the directions in the two day long State MSME Conclave held in August.

Besides organising synergies in cluster form, a decision was also taken to ensure district visit of the department's officials and to undertake single window video conference from Kolkata itself. The single window video conference has been initiated before Durga Puja. Accordingly, a calendar was also prepared to ensure timely execution of all the tasks. Three synergies have been organised and the one in Durgapur is going to be the fourth one. The previous three were organised at Siliguri, Malda and Jangalmahal. Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore districts were under the cluster for Jangalmahal.

Now, the synergy for Birbhum, East and West Burdwan is going to be organised at Durgapur, in which entrepreneurs from all the three districts will be present and they will be discussing various issues with senior officials of the department, including the Additional Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay. The Industrial Development Officers (IDOs) of the area will also be present and local issues will also get sorted in the synergy, besides discussions on measures needed for further development of the sector in the area. The entrepreneurs will also get to know about the various supports that the state government provides them to grow their business.

It may be mentioned that Bengal tops among all the states in the country in the MSME sector and it creates a huge number of job opportunities. The Mamata Banerjee government is now taking all necessary steps so that more entrepreneurs start investing in the MSME sector.

In the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in 2019, the MSME sector will be given more stress as entrepreneurs from different countries will be present. The BGBS is scheduled to be held on February 7 and 8 in 2019.
