ER makes elaborate arrangements for Gangasagar pilgrims

Kolkata: Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements for smooth ferrying of pilgrims to Gangasagar Mela.

During the tenure of the Mela from January 12 to 16, twelve EMU Mela Special galloping trains will run from Sealdah (South) via Prinsep Ghat, Kolkata, Namkhana, Lakshmikantapur and Kakdwip.

Special trains leaving from Kolkata station will touch Prinsep Ghat station.

Moreover, four regular trains in the section will be extended during the Mela.

The galloping Mela special will stop at Ballygunge, Sonarpur, Baruipur, Lakshmikantapur, Nischindapur and Kakdwip stations in both directions.

Moreover, one additional 12-coach EMU rake will be kept ready at Sonarpur to run on exigencies on January 15 and 16, to facilitate smooth return of the pilgrims from Namkhana to Sealdah.

13105/13106 Sealdah — Ballia Express and 13185/13186 Sealdah — Darbhanga Express will be augmented by one general second class coach during the Mela period. Apart from supply of round-the-clock drinking water at Namkhana & Kakdwip stations, additional arrangements for drinking water will be made during the Mela for the convenience of

the pilgrims.

Adequate illumination of the platforms, circulating area will also be made. For dispensation of tickets during the Mela, five additional booking terminals at Kakdwip and four additional counters at Namkhana will provide round-the-clock services. Apart from that, at Kakdwip, unreserved ticketing system (UTS) booking facility will be available at both sides of the station and at Sealdah, two extra counters will run.

Security arrangements will be strengthened by deploying additional RPF staff at Namkhana and kakdwip stations.

For close monitoring, arrangement of CCTVs will be made at Kakdwip & Namkhana. To assist pilgrims, 'May I Help You' booths will be provided at Sealdah (South), Kakdwip and Namkhana

station premises. Extra staff under round-the-clock supervision of Inspectors has been arranged for cleanliness of station premises.

To render First-Aid in case of emergency, medical staff with First-Aid Boxes will be available at Namkhana and Kakdwip stations. Additional wheel-chairs & stretchers will also be available at Kakdwip & Namkhana stations during the period.

Volunteers of Civil Defence, Scouts & Guides and St John's Ambulances will be deployed at Sealdah, Kakdwip & Namkhana stations to provide necessary guidance to the pilgrims coming from

different places.
