Elderly, autistic children gear up for Durga Puja tour thanks to police

Kolkata: As a part of community policing, Kolkata Police and Bidhannagar Police have jointly made an elaborate arrangement to take senior citizens to famous Durga Puja pandals in and around Kolkata.

At the same time, Kolkata Police will also take austistic children to different Puja pandals.

The project of Kolkata Police for elderly people is Pranam and the same of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate is Saanjhbati.

Around 350 members of Pranam will be taken for the visit by Kolkata Police on Sunday.

The journey will begin at 9 am and the unique initiative of the police will help the elderly people get the opportunity to visit Puja pandals without facing any inconvenience.

Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, the state Power minister, will flag off the programme from Tollygunge Police Station in South Kolkata, while Sadhan Pande, the Consumer Affairs minister, will be flagging off the same from DRO North Division for Northern part of Kolkata.

As many as 100 autistic children will be taken for the visit to various puja pandals from East Jadavpur police station at 9.30 am

on Sunday.

There will be air-conditioned buses in which they will be taken to different Puja pandals and there will be all sort of arrangements in place so that elderly people do not face any problem.

Bidhannagar Police will also take members of Saanjhbati in and around Kolkata on Sunday. Around 200 members of Sannjhbati will be taken to different Puja pandals.

The members of Saanjhbati will be assembling at North Police Station and they will be taken on the tour.
