Commercial tax officer found dead in Garia home

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a commercial tax officer whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his house at Srinagar area of Garia in South 24-Parganas.
The deceased has been identified as Sukriti Kumar Roy (52). The man went into his room on Wednesday evening but he did not come out of the room.
During the night, the family members knocked on the door repeatedly but did not get any response. As a result of this, the family members along with some of the local residents broke open the door to find the Man's body hanging from the ceiling. He used to stay on the first floor of the house.
They informed the matter to the police who rushed to the spot and sent the body for the post-mortem examination after recovering it. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the man might have committed suicide by hanging himself. They were not, however, ruling out the possibility of foul play behind his death.
Roy's family members, however, alleged that his wife used to torture him both mentally and physically which might have forced him to take a drastic step. The wife of the man on the other hand blamed his family members for the incident. She claimed that Roy's family members used to torture both of them. She also said that since her marriage, she had been a victim of atrocities by her husband and her in-laws.
The man had earlier married once but later separated from each other. Later, he married his second wife. Roy had attempted to commit suicide earlier also, police said. They said he had consumed sleeping pills to kill self.
Police also came to know after the interrogating the office colleagues of the man that for the last few days, he had been agitated and also misbehaved with some of the colleagues. Police have started a detailed probe in this regard.
