CM leaves for Karunanidhi funeral

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for Chennai on Tuesday evening to attend the funeral of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi.

Expressing her condolence, Banerjee tweeted: "Today India lost one of its greatest sons. And Tamil Nadu lost its father figure. My deepest condolences to the people of Tamil Nadu, @arivalayam, @mkstalin, @KanimozhiDMK and family. India mourns your loss."

Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi expresses his deep grief at the sad demise of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, popularly known as Kalaignar, who served as Chief Minister in the state of Tamil Nadu for five separate terms between 1969 and 2011. Tripathi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and his numerous admirers and followers.
