Class VII student found hanging from ceiling fan

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a 12-year-old boy whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his house.

The incident took place at Vidyasagar Colony of Baghajatin area on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Rohan Roy (12) who was a student of Class VII. The police recovered the body and sent it for the postmortem examination.

The investigating officers are waiting for the post mortem report which might throw some light on his death.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the boy couldhave committed suicide due to mental depression.

The police came to know that Rohan was scolded by his mother over study related issues. The police said the boy hanged himself from the ceiling fan with the help of a saree.

The saree was seized. Police found no suicide note from his room. According to police there was no sign of injuries on his body and no foul play could have been detected so far.

The victim was declared brought dead after being taken to Baghajatin hospital on Tuesday night. The investigating officers are talking to his family members to confirm if they had found any depression in the boy. A detailed probe has been initiated in this regard.
