Chandrima Bhattacharya flags off Swasthya Sathi awareness road show

Kolkata: Chandrima Bhattacharya, minister of state –department of Health and Family Welfare, flagged off a road show in presence of other senior officials to create awareness regarding the state's flagship mass health protection scheme Swasthya Sathi.

The road show was organised by the state Health department, along with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance.

The aim of this road show is to make people aware about this government-sponsored health insurance as a significant assistance that covers medical expenses during hospitalisations without payment of any premium by the beneficiary and thus enabling people to focus on health recovery rather than worrying about payment of medical expenses.

Rajiva Sinha, additional chief secretary, department of Health & Family Welfare and Binod Kumar, secretary of the department, were also present at the occasion. The dignitaries also shared their valuable thoughts about the exceptional features of the scheme.

Commenting on the occasion, Mayank Misra, national head - Government Infrastructure Projects, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, said: "Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has been implementing this scheme for the Bengal government since April 2018. This scheme, I believe, will play a major role in improving the health and lifestyle of the people of the state. Through this road show, we hope that more people will understand the importance of this scheme and health insurance in general and cover their families for any medical exigencies." Bajaj Allianz General Insurance is implementing the Swasthya Sathi scheme in 18 districts out of 23, covering around 40 lakh families. The sum insured under the scheme is Rs 5 lakh per annum per family.

It covers all family members, with no cap on the family size. Families of Self-Help Group members, ICDS workers and helpers, ASHA workers, Civic Volunteer Force, Civil Defense Volunteers and certain categories of contractual employees are also included under the scheme.
