Body of naked young woman found in Howrah

Kolkata: The body of a naked young woman was found from the adjacent area of Howrah bus terminus, late on Thursday night. Some local inhabitants saw her lying there unconsciously and informed the police.

According to sources, on Thursday night some bus drivers and conductors saw the woman lying near the bus terminus. When they went close, they saw that she was naked. Immediately, they arranged some blankets and went to rescue her. But when they tried to pull her up, they understood that she had died.

Immediately, Golabari police station was informed. Later, police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy examination. Though primarily it was suspected that she might have been raped and murdered, but after the autopsy, doctors provided a primary opinion and said no sign of any sexual assault could be found.

According to police sources, in the primary opinion, it has been found that there were several injury marks on the body which seemed to have occurred due to an accident. Sleuths also came to know that several people had seen the woman roaming aimlessly inside Howrah station in the last few days.

It is suspected that she was a vagabond and somehow came there a few days ago. On Thursday night, she may have been hit by a passing vehicle, which killed her.

Police are checking footages from nearby CCTV cameras for clues. As of now, no foul play could be suspected.
