Body of 35-year-old found at Baruipur home

Kolkata: A 35-year-old man from South 24-Parganas' Baruipur was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

The victim, Subhas Pailan (35) was found hanging from the ceiling inside his house in Champahati area under Baruipur police station on Friday morning. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide following mental depression.

After interrogating some of his relatives, police came to know about the victim's mental depression after he borrowed some amount from a local bank as loan.

He was not able to repay the loan as his business was not doing well. He had a shop in the nearby area.

On Friday morning, his family members were away from the house when Pailan committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling. The family members found the body when they reached home.

The matter was immediately reported to the local police station. Police reached the spot and recovered the body of the victim. The body was taken to Baruipur sub-divisional hospital. The body has been sent for an autopsy. The family members also told police that the victim had borrowed money from some other businessmen in the locality. He also failed to repay the amount. As a result he was suffering from depression. This might have prompted the victim to commit suicide, police suspect. Police are also investigating if there was any foul play behind the death of the victim. A probe has been initiated.
