Baisakhi, Sovan visit ED office over Narada probe

Kolkata: Baisakhi Banerjee, along with former Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, visited the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday and submitted some documents in connection with investigation of the Narada case.

Sources said that ED had asked Chatterjee to submit certain documents for the sake of investigation. The documents were being looked after by Banerjee, so she accompanied the former Mayor to the ED office at Salt Lake CGO complex. It may be mentioned that ED sleuths had earlier grilled Chatterjee and his wife Ratna in connection with the case. The former had alleged that his wife had tampered with certain documents related to his property. Chatterjee had also told ED officials that he was unaware of some properties owned by his wife.

Ratna Chatterjee, on the other hand, had claimed ignorance about the property of her husband and had told them that Banerjee has been taking care of a portion of documents and property owned by her husband.

For this reason, Banerjee was asked to appear along with Chatterjee. However, the sleuths remained tight-lipped about whether they questioned the two on Friday. "We will examine the documents and if needed, will summon both Banerjee and Chatterjee again," a source said. It may be mentioned that the divorce case of Chatterjee and his wife Ratna is pending at Alipore Court.

Meanwhile, ED officers questioned businessman Sudipta Roy Chowdhury in connection with Rose Valley case on Friday, while the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned four senior police officers in connection with investigation of the Sarada case.
