AAI hosts Int'l Airport Lab

Kolkata: In an attempt to bring international aviation experts together from all over the world to share expertise on specific best practices in area of examining "Airport Emergency Table Top Exercise" in a face-to-face setting, a 2-day International Airport Lab was inaugurated at the Kolkata International Airport on Tuesday. This exercise would lead to analysis of emergency situations which can be faced by airports.
The Lab organised in association with International Airport Professionals Community of Practice (IAP CoP) was inaugurated by Anuj Aggarwal, Member (Human Resources), Airports Authority of India (AAI) in presence of Pierre Coutu, President of IAP CoP, EP Hareendranathan, Executive Director (Technical) & Head of Airport Lab Committee, AAI, Atul Dikshit, Airport Director and KL Sharma, Regional Executive Director, Eastern Region.
Aggarwal, while addressing the international delegates from various countries like Canada, Singapore, Australia, Croatia, Latvia, UAE, Romania, Kenya and Morocco among others, emphasised on the need to enhance aviation safety & security amid rapid growth in International Civil Aviation.
Speaking on the occasion, Atul Dikshit, Kolkata Airport Director, said: "This problem solving lab is an AAI initiative to utilise the expertise of International Airport Professionals from world over as well as from AAI and I expect that people involved will be able to come out with innovative solutions to further improve emergency preparedness at Indian airports with best global practices". He further elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of all the stakeholders in airport emergency planning and identified additional mitigation and preparedness needs, activated action plans for continuous improvement in emergency planning and allowed for a review of the Airport Emergency plan and other Standard Operating Procedures.
