4th trial run for Phase-I of E-W Metro to start on Monday

Kolkata: The fourth trial run for the first phase of East-West Metro is likely to start on Monday to ensure technical glitch-free trips.

While the first round of trials for Phase-I were held from October 15 to October 17, the second round commenced on October 30 and concluded on October 31. The third trial run started on November 8 and continued till November 17.

According to sources, the officials will check the signaling system, alignment of trains at the platform, synchronisation of platform screen and other technicalities during the trial run.

While the East-West Metro project is being implemented by Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL), the operations of the service will be handled by Kolkata Metro Railway.

The first phase of the East-West Metro stretches across five kilometres between Salt Lake Sector V and Salt Lake Stadium.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Metro Railway will run six additional services on the occasion of the day/night Test match between India and Bangladesh at Eden Gardens on November 24.

"Out of these six additional services on this day, four will be run between 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm, while two additional services will be run at night between 8.00 pm and 8.50 pm," said Kolkata Metro Railway chief public relations officer Indrani Banerjee.
