3 houses gutted in New Town

Kolkata: Three houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in New Town on early Tuesday morning. According to the preliminary investigation, police and fire officials suspect that the bursting of a cylinder might have caused the fire.

The incident took place at Nandannagar area of New Town. No casualty has, however, been reported.
The incident created confusion among the local residents.
The inmates of the house managed to flee the houses after one of the houses caught fire and it soon spread to other houses.
The locals failed to douse the flame as the blaze had already spread. They informed the matter to the fire brigade. Three fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flame.
The fire officials brought the situation under control after one hour. According to the preliminary investigation the fire officials suspect that the fire might have been caused due to the bursting of a cylinder.
They were investigating if it had been caused by electrical short circuit.
According to the police, the houses were completely damaged in the fire that lasted for more than an hour.
The investigators collected samples from these houses. The police and fire officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause and the extent of the damage.
