2 killed after toto collides with tractor

Kolkata: Two persons were killed after a toto and a tractor collided at Katwa in Burdwan. Six persons including a child are admitted to Katwa Sub-divisional Hospital.

According to locals, a toto carrying seven passengers was moving towards Katwa on Burdwan-Katwa State Highway on Wednesday morning.

Near Gangulydanga, suddenly a cow somehow came infront of the toto. To avoid the cow, the toto driver tried to turn the vehicle to its right.

At the same time, a tractor loaded with bricks was moving towards the toto. While trying to avoid the cow, the toto driver lost control over the vehicle and it toppled.

As the tractor was moving at a good speed, the driver could stop. As a result, the tractor hit the toto and ran over two passengers. After colliding with the toto, the tractor also toppled and its driver got injured

Though the toto driver managed to jump off before the collision took place, two passengers of the toto identified as Rabindranath Pramanik and Kartik Saha died on the spot. Locals rushed the injured persons to the hospital where they are admitted.

Sources informed that the passengers of the toto are relatives of each other. They were returning from a festival

to Katwa.
