KMC conducts cleanliness drive at RG Kar Hospital

A KMC team led by Atin Ghosh, member, Mayor in council (health) visited RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday morning and conducted a survey. Dr S Batyabal, principal of the college accompanied the team. Tarun Saha, Councillor of ward 5 and chairman of borough I was also present during the drive.

Earlier, the KMC’s health department on June 22 had urged the RG Kar authorities to clean the overhead tanks and underground reservoirs and ensure that all the overhead tanks and underground reservoirs have covers. Accordingly, the hospital authorities took the initiative and got all the old iron covers replaced.

Atin Ghosh lauded the efforts of the hospital authorities. He said there were no pockets with stagnant water. He said the KMC team would visit National Medical College and hospital on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the KMC has taken special drives against malaria and dengue in the city. The residents of houses and apartments had been requested to clean water containers at least once a week along with flower vase and any other container where water is stored. The overhead tanks and underground reservoirs should be properly covered. They have also been requested to get their blood samples tested if they have fever. There are 5 KMC laboratories to test dengue. 

In every ward health workers are there to draw blood samples and send them to the pathological laboratories for test. All private pathological labs have been requested to send the names of patients who are found to be suffering from dengue. KMC health department workers visit the wards and the awareness drives are conducted through public address system. KMC officials have asked people not to panic and get the blood samples of people tested who are found to be suffering from fever for three days.
