Kejriwal, Sisodia congratulate Sakshi on Olympic win

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia have congratulated the family of Olympic bronze-winning wrestler Sakshi Malik, whose father is an employee of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Kejriwal took to Twitter to congratulate Sakshi, who at 23 has become the first woman wrestler from India to win an Olympic medal, hailing her for making the “whole nation proud”. Sisodia and his Cabinet colleague Satyendar Kumar Jain on Thursday Malik’s father on her win in the Rio Olympics. Malik’s parents will call on Jain, who is the Delhi Transport Minister, at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday.

Sisodia called the bronze medal winner’s family and extended his greetings. He even shared a tweet by cricketer Virender Sehwag, wherein he said, “Poora Bharat is baat ka Sakshi hai, jab koi bht mushkil ho toh is desh ki ladkiyan hi Malik hain. Thank U (Whole India is a witness to the fact that it’s always the nation’s women who come on top whenever there's a difficulty).”

Malik’s father Sukhbir, a bus conductor at Nagloi DTC Bus Depot, received a congratulatory call from Jain too. Malik, on Wednesday, became only the fourth woman from India to win a medal at the Olympic. She had defeated Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan for bronze in the 58-kg category.
