Kejriwal criticises LG for removing DGHS

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday criticised Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for removing Director General — Health Services (DGHS) of ‘Mohalla Clinic’ project from his post alleging ‘dirty politics’.

“This is quite sad. All efficient and honest officers are being marked and removed systematically. Dirty politics,” Kejriwal tweeted.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor’s remarks came a day after Jung stripped senior officer Tarun Seem of his charge as the DGHS.

Seem took over as the DGHS in October last year. He was behind the success of the Delhi government’s ambitious Mohalla Clinic project.

Seem was relieved of his charge on Friday. Sources said the move was taken as he had delayed printing of information and education material for awareness about malaria, dengue and chikungunya.

However, Seem on Saturday denied the allegation, saying, “his record has been without a fault.”

The officer is currently in charge of Delhi State Health Mission. The order stated that “Dr Beena Khurana, CMO (SAG), shall look after the charge till a regular incumbent is posted.”

Seem, a 1992-batch IRS officer, is said to be close to Delhi Health Satyendar Jain who had lauded him for leading the ‘Mohalla Clinic’ project, a pet scheme of Arvind Kejriwal government for providing affordable, high quality healthcare to people near their residence.
