Bollywood star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan has been blessed with their first child — a son — and have named him Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi. Kareena delivered the baby at 7:30 am at the Breach Candy Hospital, in south Mumbai and according to Soha Ali Khan, both mother and son are doing well.
“The family is delighted. Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi is a beautiful baby boy and both mother and son are doing very well!!,” Soha said. A statement released on behalf of the actors read: “We are very pleased to share with you all the wonderful news about the birth of our son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, on December 20.
“We would like to thank the media for the understanding and support they have given us over the last nine months and of course especially our fans and well wishers for their continued affection. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all. With love, Saif and Kareena.” The 36-year-old actress’ close friend, filmmaker Karan Johar, wished the couple on Twitter. “My Bebo had a baby boy!!!!!!! Am so so happy!!!!!!! #TaimurAliKhan,” Karan tweeted. Kareena’s Veere Di Wedding co-star and friend Sonam Kapoor welcomed the “mini nawab”.
“Congratulations my darling Bebo and Saif! #taimuralikhanpataudi is going to be the apple of everyone’s eye... #mininawab,” she wrote. “Woohoooooo ... this is such amazing news!!! #TaimurAliKhan May God bless the little bundle of joy with health, happiness & a bright future,” Sophie Choudry posted.
Veteran actor Randhir Kapoor, father of Kareena, says the family is ecstatic about the new addition. He has also thanked friends and fans for their blessings. He added: “The entire family is overwhelmed and is welcoming the new member in our family. Both the mother and son are doing fine. Thanks for all the blessings.”
The actress’ girl squad congratulated the couple, with sister Karisma Kapoor leading the wishes.
However, several Twitter posts slammed the choice of the name Taimur which in Urdu means iron. It’s also the name of a barbaric ruler who invaded India. Tweets have poured in, slamming the duo for the selection.
