Kanpur power plant to energise UP industrialisation drive: Goyal

The Centre is very eager to complete construction work on the Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Project (NUPPL) project within the sanctioned period  as it would usher industrialisation in the Kanpur area of Uttar Pradesh, said Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines Piyush Goyal while unveiling the  plaque to commenced the construction works  for   Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Project (NUPPL). Addressing the function, Piyush Goyal stated that it would also provide the maximum  share of generated power to state government  to improve the power situation in the state. 

BJP MP Murali Manohar Joshi said that completion of the project in within time frame is the main concern of this government, and he assured that, he will prioritise his concerns for the  early construction of  this  project   to see happiness in the people. About Rs 17,237.80 crore will be spent towards  the construction of the plant  (funded through equity (30 per cent) and loans (70 per cent). Time schedule for completion of  Unit I , Unit II and Unit III  of project is 52nd, 58th and 64th months from the date of sanction by the Central government. 

The Project requires 11.35 mt coal per annum.The Union Environment Ministry has accorded clearance for the project with imported coal option. 

Also to fulfill the water requirement of the project state sovernment of Uttar Pradesh allocated 80 cfps (Cubic Feet Per Sec) water from Allahabad Branch Canal, near Bidhnu  Kasba. Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Piyush Goyal unveiled the  plaque to commenced the construction works  for   Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Project (NUPPL), a coal based super critical thermal power project at Ghatampur in Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, during ground breaking ceremony  at Lauhuriman village, Ghatampur on Thursday. 

This power plant is a joint venture of NLC India Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) named Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL). Earlier, Kanpur Constituency Member of Parliament Murali Manohar Joshi, presided over the function  for the construction of super critical thermal power project. 

The Bhoomi Pooja was done in the presence of Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (MoS) for Food Processing Industries  Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Member of Parliament Devendra Singh (Bhole Singh), MLA Raghunandan Singh Bhadauriya, MLA Satish Mahana and NLC CMD Sarat Kumar Achrya, and other dignitaries. 

NLC India Ltd functional directors Rakesh Kumar, Subir Das, V Thangapandian, senior officials from UPRVUNL, political leaders and senior officials from Centre and the state government participated in the function.
