Jessica on H’wood Journey

Actor Jessica Alba says she enjoys being in control of her billion-dollar business after she was left frustrated by Hollywood. The 35-year-old actor first made a name for herself in television show ‘Dark Angel’, before starring in movies such as Into the Blue, Fantastic Four and Sin City.  These days though, she’s mainly kept busy with her The Honest Company, which has become a billion-dollar
enterprise since she founded it in 2011.

Alba says her route to becoming a business woman was made a lot easier because of her pragmatic and ambitious approach to working in the movie industry. “I weirdly always approached Hollywood like a business, but now I have an actual business to put that mindset to,” she smiled during an appearance on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

“For me as an actor in Hollywood I was never in control of the marketing, the distribution, the final cut, the edit and so much of my life was in someone else’s hands. So it was quite frustrating because I like to control things, so to try and control my destiny as an actor (I wasn’t able to).”
