ISL: Chennai draw 2-2 against NE United
Elano Blumer’s brace wasn’t enough for Chennaiyin FC as they were held to a 2-2 draw by NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Saturday evening. Elano put his side into the lead before Seminlen Doungel equalized just before the end of the first half. The Brazilian scored his second goal of the evening in the 78th minute only for Koke to equalize seven minutes later.

Two changes were made by the home side; both enforced by goalkeeper Shilton Paul’s sending off in the previous game. Gennaro Bracigiliano replaced the Indian in goal which meant the extra foreigner in Jean-Eudes Maurice had to be replaced by Jeje Lalpekhlua.

NorthEast United FC on the other hand, sprang a surprise with the 20-year old Seminlen Doungel starting upfront with James Keene. The Indian starlet and the Englishman came in for the pacey and effective duo of Do Dong-Hyun and Durga Boro. Milan Singh replaced Zodingliana Ralte in midfield. The Marco Materazzi-led side started with their typical diamond formation with the Italian and Elano on either tips. The Ricki Herbert-led outfit set out with Koke as the creative force with Keene and the willing runner Doungel in support up ahead.
