Indo-American Shalli Kumar part of US Prez-elect’s inauguration panel

A prominent Indian-American industrialist, who played a leading role in mobilising Hindus for US President-elect Donald Trump, has been appointed to the Transition Finance and Inauguration committee, a Republican Hindu organistion said.

Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar, who is founder and president of Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC), has been appointed to the Transition Finance and Inauguration teams. “I am honoured to accept these positions with the transition team and the inauguration committee,” Kumar said.

He added: “I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and working together with Steve and the other members of the Trump administration to Make America Great Again.” 

Kumar along with Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s pick for Treasury Secretary, also played a key role in organising the ‘Aab Ki baar Trump Sarkar’ ad campaign. 

Bharara to stay 

India-born US Attorney Preet Bharara has agreed to remain a federal prosecutor at Trump’s request. After meeting with Trump on Thursday, Bharara said, “to discuss whether or not I’d be prepared to stay on as the US attorney to do the work as we have done it, independently without fear or favor, for the last seven years.”  He said he had also met with Sen. Jeff Sessions, Trump’s pick for attorney general.
