Indian women ready for Afghan challenge

A “well-prepared” India will take on Afghanistan in the SAFF Women’s Football Championship in Siliguri in the east Indian West Bengal state on Tuesday, seeking to continue their dominance in the tournament.

“We are well prepared and girls are raring to give it a go tomorrow”, coach Sajid Dar said. “We need all three points tomorrow to kick start our campaign in the best possible way. Yes, it’s true that we have enormous respect for them but that won’t deter us to shy away from trying to clinch a win tomorrow”, an optimistic Sajid said on Monday.

A good number of Afghani girls ply their trade in the Europe, especially Denmark, and Germany, and Tuesday’s match will surely be a fierce one. “I have heard about it and definitely, this Afghanistan outfit will be a hard nut to crack. We will try to execute our own strategies on the field.”
