Huge turn-out of parents make second PTM a roaring success

Delhi Government’s second mega Parent Teacher Meet (PTM) was organised on Saturday in all the government schools of the city in two shifts. The PTM was a huge success as lakhs of parents came to schools to get the feedback and suggestions from teachers on merits and weakness of their children.

“We are very happy with the amazing turn-out of parents even for this PTM. Parents have found the perfect window or platform to engage and interact with their children’s teachers. It is an excellent opportunity for both parents and teachers to understand the child’s requirements better,” said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who also holds the charge of Education Department.

In addition to Sisodia, PWD Minister Satyender Kumar Jain, Labour Minister Gopal Rai, MLAs and senior government officers visited schools to see the functioning of PTM. After a tremendous feedback from parents for July’s Mega PTM, the Delhi Government’s second edition as a ‘Report Card PTM’ was equally successful. Teachers shared children’s Report Cards with parents, for the Summative Assessment that was held in the last week of September.

Schools had laid out the red carpet for parents, and light refreshments were offered to all. Since this was the second such initiative, many parents were more aware of what to expect and had come prepared with questions and sought clarifications from teachers.

The Delhi Government has made several efforts to improve parents’ involvement in children’s education, so that an environment conducive to education can be developed outside the classrooms as well.

Teachers explained the idea behind the Government’s ‘Every Child Can Read’ campaign which is intended at ensuring 100 percent child literacy before November 14.

Parents were encouraged to engage with children about activities conducted in their schools.
