Heritage website launched

The website of the Competent Authority for the NCT of Delhi, established under Ancient Monuments and Sites & Remains Act 2010 (AMASR), was officially launched on Friday. The user-friendly website was launched by P K Tripathi, Chief Secretary of Delhi. It was an attempt to bring transparency in the operations of Competent Authority as it brings the office to the doorsteps of the people.

Now, submission of applications for permission to repair and renovate protected heritage buildings and for construction and re-construction in the regulated areas around centrally protected monuments in Delhi could be done through the website.

The applicants, through their unique application ID numbers, could track the status of their applications and browse the list of applications locality-wise as well. All permissions and NOCs being granted by the Competent Authority could also be seen at the website.

The website also describes in brief the history of the 174 centrally protected monuments in Delhi. The photographs and Google Map linking would make it convenient for people who want information. Complaints about unauthorised constructions in prohibited and regulated areas or violations of AMASR Act could also be registered online through the website.

Besides, a special public forum on the website would provide a platform for Delhiites for posting their suggestions regarding preservation, conservation and management of centrally protected monuments. A special section enables active participation of residents of Delhi in formulating the bylaws of all monuments in Delhi.
