Headless body found in Khayala

Even after 24 hours a headless body was found near a drain in West Delhi’s Khayala area, the police are yet to ascertain the victim’s identity. A dedicated police team is also looking for the victim’s head, police said on Wednesday.

Residents informed the police about the headless body around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

“A police team was sent to the spot, which found a headless body wrapped in a blanket. However, the pockets of the victim were allegedly emptied to conceal his identity. A case under Section 302 (murder) was registered immediately,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

He added that the head of the body could not be located till Wednesday evening.

Though the body was found in a congested residential area, no one has yet claimed to have seen anyone dumping it there. It is suspected that the body was dumped in the wee hours of Tuesday or the day before that, a police official said.

He added that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. However, it is mandatory for the body to be identified before sending it for <g data-gr-id="27">post-mortem</g> examination.
