HC asks government to book Nirmal Baba

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Central and Delhi government on a petition seeking stopping of advertisements in various media by Nirmal Baba. It has also asked for registration of FIR against him under the provisions of Drug and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisement Act 1954.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice A K  Sikri and Justice R S Endlaw seeking response from the Central and city government by 4 July, the next date of hearing, also asked petitioner A K Jain to make Nirmal Baba a party in the case.

Jain has asked from the High Court that the amount received in different accounts by Nirmal Baba be ordered to be confiscated as the amount has been earned by playing fraud and mischief to the common man.

Jain alleged that Nirmal Baba has been advertising in different electronic and print media claiming to give 'magical treatment' while misleading the common man by claiming himself to a 'representative of god'. It said that such advertisement in the media given by the Baba is contrary to the provisions of the Drug and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisement Act, 1954.

The petition said, 'The common man is being misled by the self-styled Nirmal Baba and has been paying lacs of rupees under the belief that the problems of the particular person will be solved with the blessings of Nirmal Baba as a result Nirmal Baba is spending lacs of rupees in his advertisement through electronic and print media and has earned more than 200 crores within few years in Delhi.'

'Nirmal Baba by giving publicity through the electronic and print media claims that if any one start acting on his advise then the said person will be cured from any disease,' petitioner's advocate Sugriv Dubey said, demanding registration of FIR against the self-styled baba.
