Gurgaon doctor in net for raping patient

A 47-year-old doctor in a Gurgaon hospital has been arrested and sent to Tihar jail for allegedly raping a patient at his residence in Delhi on the pretext of helping her get a job. The accused works with the Civil Hospital in Gurgaon and had treated the woman two years ago.

The victim told the police that two years ago, she had suffered a fracture in the leg and had visited the doctor for an operation. During surgery, the doctor allegedly inserted two pins in her leg. One of them was removed, while the other was still there, she stated in her complaint.

She visited the doctor at the hospital again on Friday to get the second pin removed from her leg. During the check-up, he offered to help the woman by getting her a job. A few minutes later he told her that he had secured the job for her.

After gaining her trust, the accused took her to his residence in Dwarka around 10 am. After some time, he made an advance on her. The woman protested and slapped him when he did not stop. But the accused overpowered and raped her. He then threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.

The accused then offered to give her a ride till Gurgaon, to which she relented. On the way to Gurgaon, the accused stopped his car to meet a property dealer. Using this opportunity, the woman managed to escape and reach Dwarka Sector-23 police station, where she filed a complaint.

Based on her statement and the medical report confirming the assault, a rape case was registered. The doctor was later arrested from Gurgaon the same day and sent to judicial custody.
