Govt beefs up security following Centre’s alert

The state government has beefed up security arrangements in the city and the districts following an alert from the Centre that there could a terrorist attack at important establishments in the state.  

A central intelligence agency has issued an alert to various states including West Bengal. Security has been beefed up along the coastal and bordering areas of the state. The centre has alerted the state that various terrorist outfits are planning to carry out their activities across the state on January 23 and 26.

The city police have already beefed up the security measures at the important installations in the city, temples, shopping malls and the important places that see huge footfalls.
