Government releases commemorative stamp on 50 years of ITBP

Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology released a commemorative postage stamp on Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the force. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that he is proud to be a part of this historic event.

Commemorative postage stamps are issued to highlight a country’s achievements in various spheres like science and technology, defence as well as its progress in socio-economic sector.

The significant role of ITBPF in the security of our nation is being recognised by issuing this stamp. ITBPF has been entrusted with the responsibility of guarding the 3,488 km long India – China border from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh, a responsibility which its personnel have discharged with great distinction in the last fifty years.ITBPF also provides security to VVIP and VIPs and protects vital installations which include the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament House and others.
