GM of Eastern Railway makes surprise visit to Howrah station

General Manager of Eastern Railway R K Gupta made a surprise visit at Howrah station on Friday. Badrinarayan, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah, ADRM, SRM, IG-Cum-Security Commissioner also reached the station after Gupta’s arrival. 

Gupta visited Howrah station to review the security arrangements and crowd management during Chhat Puja. He inspected the security arrangements, information management system, booking facilities, light illumination, drinking water facilities, cleanliness at platforms and trains. He also directed to arrange RPF, GRP, women constables and RPSF staff at crowded places such as booking counters, waiting rooms, passengers lounge, platforms and Chhat Puja and Diwali Special trains including other trains leaving Howrah station. He advised the divisional authorities to remain alert and inform the passengers from time to time through public announcement system. He also instructed to open ‘May I Help You’ booths to help passengers. 

Gupta also inspected the cleanliness at both old and new complexes of Howrah station. Recently, Gupta inaugurated a 4,000 litres per hour capacity state-of-the-art UV based chilled plant for the passengers at Howrah station old complex.
