Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) leader Roshan Giri on Thursday filed Rs 5 crore defamation case against Harka Bahadur Chetry.
The case was filed in Darjeeling district sessions court. Chetry at a press conference held in December last year alleged that Giri had taken 15 per cent cut money from the contractor engaged in the construction of a poly technique in Kalimpong. He had said that he got the information from the documents kept in West Bengal State Assembly.
Subsequently, Giri conducted a search operation but he failed to find anything there. He first sent a lawyer’s notice asking Chetry to apologise. On failing to get any response, he filed a case on Thursday.
Chetry started maintaining distance from Giri from September 2015. He has floated a forum called Jana Andolon party.
