Geeta Phogat appointed DSP in Haryana Police

Haryana Government on Tuesday appointed international woman wrestler Geeta Phogat as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Haryana Police.
A proposal of the Home Department was approved at a meeting of the state cabinet here today presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.An official spokesman said that Phogat is a graduate and a sportsperson of international repute. She is also a gold medallist of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Geeta Phogat is a female wrestler from India who won India’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth GamesÂ
The State Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Home Department to appoint Mountaineer Ram Lal as Sub Inspector in Haryana Police Department against sports quota.Â
