Food and other stories
“I have tried all the recipes of this book,” said Arshad Warsi who was here in the national Capital for the launch of his wife Maria Goretti’s book. The actor loves all her dishes and loves Meringue sans calories.
“My favourite is Meringue and Baked Chicken from this book,” said Warsi. From My Kitchen To Yours: Food, Love And Other Ingredients celebrates how Maria Goretti lives with memorable recipes from her mother’s East-Indian spreads, aromas from her grandmother’s kitchen, and the food that she has seen, touched and tasted over her many travels across India, and the world, as a VJ with MTV.
Along with that, she has also included all those delicious dishes she ate at her friends’ homes, especially sinful desserts which she tried and tried till she got them right. Divided into monthly menus with soups, salads, starters, non-vegetarian and vegetarian main course dishes, and desserts, the recipes are simple and delicious. With a foreword by actor and politician Jaya Bachchan, the book presents a six-course meal layout for each month, and easy-to-make recipes with ingredients readily available in any home kitchen.
“It was trial and error, when I was doing the book. I tried each and every recipe at least twice, if not thrice, and put it together properly in a way that it is easy for the reader to be able to make a dish. For somebody, who has never cooked before and is following the book, then at the end of it, they should be really happy about the time spent on a particular dish. And they need to be inspired to cook some more,” she said.
