'Web series don't have time constraint'

Bengali film actress Anindita Bose, who has stepped in the web space with Zee5’s new show ‘Skyfire’, is overwhelmed with the response she is receiving from the audience

After garnering praise and popularity in Bengali films, actress Anindita Bose has stepped into the world of web series. In an exclusive interview with Millennium Post, the 'Skyfire' actress talks about her debut in web space, experiences of sharing screen with co-actors, industry scenario and much more....

Recently you did a web series 'Skyfire'. How was the response from the fans?

I have received messages from the fans and they really liked the show because, for them, it is a new concept. I had really high hopes from the show as no one in India had done a sci-fi thriller in the web space before us. And I am overwhelmed to see such fantastic response from audience.

What prompted you to take up this role?

There are a list of reasons behind it. I chose this role because of the story first of all. Everything about it was extremely interesting. Secondly, to be a part of India's first ever Indian sci-fi thriller was a pretty huge deal.

And lastly, Zee5 is producing out of the box content and to be part of one its shows which has a fantastic cast including Prateik, Sonal, Jishu was once in a lifetime opportunity; and that's why I went ahead with it.

Is there any plan for Skyfire season 2 and will you be the part of it?

Yeah, there will be a season 2 of the show but I can't reveal whether I will be the part of second season or not. You have to wait and watch.

Tell us something about your role in another upcoming web series 'Thinkistan'?

Basically I debuted in web space with 'Thinkistan' but 'Skyfire' released earlier and became my first web show.

'Thinkistan' is to do with what goes on in an advertisement agency and the story dates back to 1996 . It gives a detailed view of how the ad world used to work at that time, how the iconic ads (like that of Fevicol and Dhara) were made and much more. I am playing the role of creative head of this agency.

How was your experience working with other co-actors on the set?

Since 'Thinkistan' is an office drama, we had to show that all of us knew each other very well and that there was a chemistry between all the characters. So, our director N Padmakumar made sure that we went through a rigorous workshop before we start shooting. In that duration, we worked so closely that when we actually started shooting, it felt like a get-together/party. It was one of my best ever experiences.

Shooting for 'Skyfire' was again amazing as Prateik Babbar is a very fun loving person kept us entertained all the time. Also, working with Jishu Sengupta was equally fabulous.

What made you shift your focus from Bengali films to Hindi web series?

I have not completely shifted to Hindi industry as I am right now in Kolkata and working for two projects over here. But I was always keen on working in Mumbai as it is such a huge industry. I have already made my place in Tollywood as I am very comfortable over here and people know me, but I want to expand my horizons now.

How different is web series from other mediums?

I think for a web series, we shoot for 60 to 65 days and for movies, everything has to be very concise because the story has to be portrayed in 2 hours time. But when you are doing a web series, you really get time to play out a story in a better way. Otherwise, the technicalities and the craft are the same in all platforms.

To what extent do you think the film industry has evolved since you started your career?

I feel earlier the industry was more focused on the looks of the actors. But over the years now, storytelling and the script has become the focus area. I think the audience like to watch good content and that's why looks don't matter anymore.

What are your future plans, are you working on any project?

I am working for a project in Mumbai which should come out sometime in next year. I can't reveal much about it.

What is more important for you....playing different characters or bagging big roles?

For me, it has always been the character.
