Carpet Export Promotion Council’s India Carpet Expo aims at promoting exports of handmade carpets and rugs for the skill enhancement of artisans.

With an aim to promote the cultural heritage and weaving skills of Indian hand-made carpets and other floor coverings amongst the visiting overseas carpet buyers, Carpet Export Promotion Council is organizing its 33rd Edition of India Carpet Expo in the Capital from March 27 to 30 in Hall no 11, 12 and 12A at Pragati Maidan, under the aegis of Govt. of India. India carpet expo is an ideal platform for International carpet buyers, buying houses, buying agents, architects and Indian carpet manufacturers and exporters to meet and establish long term business relationship.
India Carpet Expo is one of the largest handmade carpet fairs in Asia with a unique platform for the buyers to source the best handmade carpets, rugs and other floor coverings under one roof. It has become a popular destination worldwide on handmade carpets. Indian Carpets are renowned all over the world for their exquisite designs, subtle elegance, attractive colours and workmanship. Hand-knotted Woollen Carpets from India speak eloquently of the superb workmanship. India produces all types of qualities with specific designs; colours and sizes as per requirement of world market and have an edge to produce carpets according to the specification of buyer with timely delivery schedule. The art of weaving carpet has percolated down through generations and the Indian craftsmen have been creating the greatest of specimen since the medieval period.

The Expo will be inaugurated on March 27 at 10 am by Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Textiles, Government of India in the presence of Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Textiles; Rashmi Verma, IAS, Secretary (Textiles); J.K. Dadoo, IAS, AS and FA, Ministry of Commerce and Textiles; Alok Kumar, IAS, Development Commissioner (Handlooms) and (Handicrafts) and other senior Govt. officials from the central government beside representatives from trade and media.

India Carpet Expo has received overwhelming response from the member exporters and 305 exhibitors are displaying their products during the show. Over the years, the India Carpet Expo has established itself as a great sourcing platform for the carpet buyers from all over the globe.

Around 410 carpet importers from 55 countries mainly from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, U.K., USA etc. have registered themselves for attending the expo.

It would be worthwhile to mention that buyers from new countries like Bulgaria, Israel, Malaysia, Mauritius, Taiwan, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Serbia, Hungary are also attending the mega expo.

Carpet Export Promotion Council is not only inviting and incentivizing the wholesale buyers but is also providing a two nights' complimentary stay in hotel at New Delhi for attending India Carpet Expo.

Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, said that this exhibition and buyer seller meet will be the first step in taking Indian exports of handmade carpet to much greater and newer heights. "We are also promoting buyers in the Textiles India show to be held in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) at the expo.

The first vice-chairman, Siddh Nath Singh, the second vice-chairman, Umer Hameed, and all the members of COA, CEPC are confident that the Expo will generate good business.

Established in the year 1982, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) is a non-profit organization, set up with the objective to promote and develop exports of handmade carpets, rugs and other floor coverings. It is an official body of handmade carpet exporters for promotion of exports from country and projected India's "Make in India" image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handmade carpet products. CEPC therefore, helps in R & D, quality assurance, timely delivery of finished products across the globe in addition to skill enhancement of weavers, artisans and entrepreneurs.

The Council facilitates understanding of carpets related Indian and International trade policies, emerging trade issues, social and environmental compliances, quality management and sustainable business practices.
