Two-week national conference begins at VIT

The conference has been organised by the School of Advanced Sciences and School of Electrical Engineering of VIT

A National Conference on 'Quality Guidelines and Power Safety' began at Vellore Institute of Technology. The two-week conference, inaugurated by A P Dwivedi, Chairman, South Zone Quality Estimation Centre, Chennai, has been organised by the School of Advanced Sciences and School of Electrical Engineering of VIT.

Besides this, a conference as part of the Electrical Safety Weeks is also being organised. The inaugural function of the event was held at Kamarajar Auditorium of VIT where Professor S Sivabalan, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Professor Anand A Samuel, Vice Chancellor of VIT, presided over the function.

In his address, Dwivedi, who is also a renowned scientist in the areas of quality estimation and safety, said the conference being held at VIT was very important. He pointed out that consumption of water and food was increasing among the people and it was very important to know their quality and safety levels. He said that guidelines were given to laboratories to ascertain the quality of products made in industries. He said that it would be possible to learn about the new technologies likely to be known through the proceedings of the conference towards ensuring quality norms are adhered to. S R Venkatapathy of ISI, Bengaluru and Srikanth Chandrasekaran, Senior Director, Quality and Technology at Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bengaluru, were guests of honour on the occasion. Dr A Mary Saral, Dean, School of Adcanced Sciences, and Professors S Vivekanandan, S Venkatesh, Sai Saraswathi and others took part. Professor P Arulmozhi Varman delivered a vote of thanks.
