'Sarangi Legacy' to commemorate Ustaad Sabri Khan

As 2018 is coming to an end, it is time to indulge in Hindustani vocal or the Sarangi. With great zeal and enthusiasm Sarangi Cultural Academy and Saurang Sangeet Society is organising Sarangi Legacy 2018 – the festival of music and dance, on December 13, at 7 pm, at the Stein Auditorium, Habitat Centre.

The grandeur of this cordial gathering will be initiated by a postage stamp release ceremony in the humble remembrance of legendary Sarangi Samrat Ustaad Sabri Khan Saheb. The evening will witness an artistic performance by Nabeel Khan, who will present a blissful raag on his instrument.

Over the years, many talented artists and legends have promoted Sarangi from being a mere accompaniment to attaining a solo classical status equal to sitar or sarod. The grand festival will be bestowed by the eminent artists like the musically gifted Ustad Kamal Sabri (Sarangi solo) and his beloved nephew and disciple Nabeel Khan (Sarangi) along with Ptandit Anindo Chatterjee (Tabla), who together will set the bar high. Next in cue is a marvelous Kathak solo performance by gorgeous and extremely talented Rani Khanam coupled with Ustad Akram Khan (Tabla).
