Initiative to support orphan girl child
Kolkata, 13th September 2017: Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, the heritage jewellery house, as an extension to the 'Kanyashree' initiative, has taken the onus to help orphaned and bereft girl child for their education, health and financial upliftment. "Durga and Friends", an initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, celebrated their one year of success at Calcutta Rowing Club, recently, in the presence of renowned Tollywood actor Priyanka Sarkar.
'The children of Chitrangada', home for such destitute children, associated with Durga and Friends, performed on the joyous occasion celebrating the onset of Durga Puja. The girls sang and danced to showcase the power of love and care. Actor Suchandra Vaaniya, artist Eleena Banik, renowned choreographer Sukalyan Bhattacharya and Jayanta Ghosh were also present to support the children along with Rupak Saha and Arpita Saha of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, the mind behind the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers said, "'Durga and Friends' is an effort conceived and designed by the company, to support the Orphan Girl Child. We are really very happy to get associated with Chitrangada and take the responsibility of these children. We want to create more Durgas out of these young girls who might be less privileged but are full of potential. We think this is the best possible way to serve the society by helping and empowering these embodiments of Maa Durga."
The noble initiative was undertaken to commemorate the arrival of Durga, the Goddess of power and strength. Operation Hridaya, another initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, previously took upon the responsibility of bringing smiles to ten little faces by operating and successfully treating their hearts.
