Encouraging young food bloggers

The second edition of 'Top Food Blogger Awards', organised by Sidd's Hospitality and Candid Communication, was held at Jameson Inn Shiraz, recently.

J Biswas, Assistant Director, Ministry of Tourism, Kolkata and Virginie Corteval, Consul General, France, Kolkata were invited as Chief Guests to the event along with Guests of Honor Kasemsan Thongsiri, Deputy Consul-General, The Royal Thai Consulate, Kolkata and Agnimitra Paul.

Eminent personalities like Satrajit Sen, Masterchef Priyanka M, Indroneel Mukherjee, DJ Akash, Dibyendu Barua, and Sudarshan Chakraborty along with Ishtiaque Ahmed, Managing Director of Jameson Inn Shiraz also graced the event.

The event was started with the objective to reward bloggers in segments of quality of writing, uniqueness of the subjects covered, level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page and of course, quality of the photographs and level of love displayed in taking them.

The award ceremony started with 'Lifetime Achievement Award', which was given to Chef Steven Lee – Head chef and patron at Hakkaland, an Indo-Chinese Restaurant.

The 24 awards were segmented into different categories like 'Best Travel Blog', 'Most Inspired Weeknight Dinners', 'Best Food Instagram', 'Best Drinks Blog', 'Best Baking and Sweets Blog', 'Food and Culture Best Essay Award', 'Best Photography', to name a few.

All the categories were further divided into 'Jury's choice' and 'People's choice' award.

One of the organisers, Paromita Ghosh, Director, Candid Communication said: "We are grateful for the interest and feedback generated amid our bloggers' fraternity. We feel strengthened to receive over 300 nominations and over 4000 votes."

The Director of Sidd's Hospitality, Ankur Siddiqui believes that the awards have provided a unique platform to the food blogging community of eastern India, thereby encouraging new food bloggers to give shape to their passion and love for blogging.
