Artist Uttam Pacharne appointed LKA Chairman

The former member of Lalit Kala Akademi, Uttam Pacharne, took charge as its Chairman on May 22, in the presence of Dr Vinay Sahsrabuddhe, a Rajya Sabha Member and President, ICCR, eminent sculptor Ram V Sutar, sculptor Ravindra Salve and Deepak Narayan Pavanikar. Secretary Incharge, LKA Vishalakshi Nigam, Dy. Secretary (Programme) Bhishm Mirani and staff members of Lalit Kala Akademi welcomed Pacharne to the Akademi.
Union Minister of State for Culture Dr Mahesh Sharma also congratulated Pacharne on assuming charge of the Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi.
Internationally acclaimed personality Uttam Pacharne was the chairman of Bombay Art Society, Mumbai, for three terms and has been an active committee member for last 23 years. Currently, he is the 4th term director in Janseva Sahakari Bank, Borivali, besides being a member of the advisory committee in Kala Akademi, Goa, and P.L. Deshpande State Lalit Kala Academy.
Pacharne was born on June 1, 1956, in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. He completed his education from Pune and Mumbai. He took part in many group shows and organized a number of solo shows of his widely acclaimed sculptures between 1978 and 2010. He also participated in the Art camps held at Pune, Chennai, Agra and several other places. Pacharne also organised art demonstrations in Maharashtra, Lucknow etc.
He is the recipient of National Lalit Kala Akademi Award (1985), Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar (1985), Junior National Award(1986) and Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar 2017 from Prafulla Dahanukar Foundation. He has also been the jury member of various reputed exhibitions.
His monumental works are in the collection of several institutions including Lalit Kala Akademi, NGMA, Air India, Lufthansa Airlines, L&T as well as at various places in Maharashtra, Andman & Nicobar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and even overseas at Mauritius.
Pacharne will hold office for a term of three years.
