A balancing act

Balance is a show about five corporate jugglers who have a very busy work life. But are eaten down by the pangs of passion that each one has been nurturing for a long time. This continuous tug and war with their conscience has resulted in this show.

Hailing from the Capital and the city of joy, Kolkata, the participating artists are Partho Sengupta from media and advertising, Sachin Deep Singh a qualified dentist, Manoj Deb a creative head in advertising, Kajal Chakrabarty an animator and artist and Sarasij Dasgupta, creative head in advertising.

As they say, that life is a balancing act – this one promises and delivers in all counts.

This exhibition has a collection of mixed media experiments on books and stories with a twist in the tale, Partho Sengupta takes you on a very nostalgic journey and yet with a whiff of freshness added to the show. It has a collection of beautiful street pictures captured candidly by adman Sarasij Dasgupta. The nearly monotonic render of life through Manoj Deb's eyes, spell beautiful and magical forms with eyes and human interfaces. Kajal Chakravarty has got a very fresh and graphic style which encapsulates his surroundings and reflects his observations of life.

And lastly, a disruptive and graphic black and white documentation in water colours and acrylics by Sachin Deep Singh mesmerises the audience.

This show, which is being held at the open palm court of India Habitat Center till March 31 from 10 am to 8 pm, has been pulling many art lovers across the city in-spite of the long weekdays and office hours. The colours, vibrancy and the spread have got many enthralled. It shows that with good sense of time and energy one can put up a show of this magnitude and effect. This show was opened for public viewing by the noted and internationally famous, fashion and commercial photographer Tarun Khiwal and the ace adventurist, Limca world record holder, Olympic medalist and Padma Shri honoured, Deepa Malik. Both are incredible human beings who have been juggling life challenges with dignity and finesse. It's surely a show that's not to be missed.
