Ex-afghan armyman, aide arrested for stealing

An ex-Afghan army soldier and his accomplice were arrested after they were found to be involved in a case of theft in Lajpat Nagar, police said on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Zakriya Hamraj and Shahim Halim. Furthermore,  the police have recovered Rs 1,22,500 in Indian currency, $ 6900 US Dollars and a gold chain weighing 55.300 mg worth Rs1,60,000 which was purchased using the stolen money. The case came to light when the complainant, Ahmad Fawed Ahnadri, an Afghan national and the owner of Mazaar Restaurant reported that two of his employees have stolen the abovementioned items from his restaurant. On December 16, 2016, at around 4.30 am, the incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the shop. 

Police received information through sources that both the accused were trying to escape to Afganistan. It was also revealed that both the accused have no valid visa and passport so they would try to escape from India via Nepal. On December 30, 2016, police received information that the accused  were trying to cross the border through Sonauli (UP). The team moved to Sonauli Border and the accused were arrested upon identification.
