‘Errant employees under suspension’

The security personnel, who allegedly assaulted a women scribe working with Lok Sabha TV channel on 15 June, has been placed under suspension, the Press and Public Relations Wing of the Lok Sabha Secretariat has stated. The report was published in Millennium Post on Monday.

The Director of the Press & Public Relations Wing, Ashok Kumar, said the incident occurred at around 8 pm on 15 June and the matter was reported to senior officers. After a preliminary enquiry against the concerned personnel, B P S Negi, he was placed under suspension. Kumar claimed that the barracks were routinely subjected to surprise checks, besides maintaining strict vigil at the entry gates of Parliament House Complex and discounted the possibility of liquor bottles being found at the gates. ‘No discovery of alcohol or empty bottles has ever been reported due to the strict access control management in Parliament House Complex,’ added Kumar.

He pointed out that the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has introduced several initiatives for the safety of women employees of the Secretariat, including setting up of a complaints committee to look into cases of sexual harassment against women employees of the Secretariat, and provision of transport facility to women employee who have to stay back for official work after 7 pm in winter and after 8 pm in summer.
