John Legend was not emotionally prepared for wife Chrissy's PTSD

The 38-year-old musician says it was ironically a difficult time for the family when they welcomed their first child 11 months ago, reported FemaleFirst. “You don’t see it coming. You’re not emotionally prepared for someone that’s going through a dark time as you’re welcoming this new life.

John Legend said that he did not see wife Chrissy Teigen's postpartum depression coming, following the birth of their daughter, Luna, and had no idea how to deal with it initially.

The 38-year-old musician says it was ironically a difficult time for the family when they welcomed their first child 11 months ago, reported FemaleFirst. "You don't see it coming. You're not emotionally prepared for someone that's going through a dark time as you're welcoming this new life.

"When you don't understand what's happening, it's a bit challenging to figure it out and you don't know if it's something you've done or some other reason why she's not feeling well," Legend said.

The 'All Of Me' hitmaker adds that it was a great step on Chrissy's part to come up and discuss PTSD. "So many people go through this - they say one in nine but there's probably more than that. I think it was good for her to talk about it," he said.
